We have expanded our gang with poodle Tixobambixo's Hayli of Ther-Lia "Lotta", a beautifull fawn girl.

Once again we had the wonderful opportunity to test the herding instincts in our dogs, and the three Kvitsymra dogs Birka, Cigga "Nala" and Davvi "Heikki" showed good talents. I am so grateful to the herders from Lom tamreinlag and Vågå tamrein and the very competent judges from Finnish Lapland Tiina Pulska and Minna Mäntyranta-Mustonen. Wonderful people, wonderful weekend 2. - 4. March.

Long time since updating! Sorry! The puppies from our E-litter are well established in their families, our Liisa has become Norwegian Champion, and we just had a new litter og Finnish Lapphund, six lively, strin and eager pups were born 14.9. Mother: Hiittanan Pimentyttö, father: Shacal CGE Popeda.

Fantastic days in March, First Pello in Finnish Lappland (25.-26.2.) where I got the great opportunity to observe testing of reindeer herding dogs. The weekend after (4.-5.3) in the mountains Jotunheimen in Norway where we tested the reindeer herding talents, a cooperation between Norsk Lapphundklubb and the reindeer herders of Lom and Vågå. Unforgettable! Fantastic weather, nature, herders, reindeer and dogs.
On March 13th 6 little puppies were born in our home, and we are looking forward to see them grow!

3 weeks old, and growing a lot. Behaving like very normal puppies. They eat amd play, but sleep most of the time. We have names for them, but will not decide which of the boys will have whch name yet. The girl will be names Duv'và which is Sami for dove, the boys will be named Draum - Norwegian for dream, Davvi - Sami for north, and Dante as in Dante Alighieri. For the time being the boys have nicknames, referring to their colours.

Emma has been mated with Gironårdens Obelix i July, but we don't know the result yet. We enjoy the sunny Saturday evening in the garden with some agility training.

The puppies are growing so fast! From around 350 grams when newborn to nearly 2 kg now, in less than 4 weeks. They are eating puppy food, playing, meeting new people, and are just lovely!

The names of the puppies: Kvitsymras Barki, which means dark brown dog in Sami, Brage, the name of the god for poetry in Norse mythology, Balto, the leader dog in the sledge ride for medicin to Nome, Alaska, in 1924, and finally Birka, named after our Fjelldronningens ( Mountain Queen, name of a mountain flower) Birka "Emma", who is the queen in the house, and a worthy idol. You also see photos of ancestors with coats that the pups may resemble.

In short: We are hoping for puppies in the end of September after mating between Emma (Fjelldronningens Birka) and Øyerfjellets Neo. He is a wonderful male, masculine but soft and friendly with a very good fur and well built.

A great weekend in the ring! Hiittanan Paimentyttö Frøya earned her two first certificates, and Fihtolas Nonparelli Jalka did well, still a novice, and got very good critics. Our own breed Kvitsymras Ajak Avvo did very well too, and got res.cert! The spare time these two days were spent relaxing in he garden on Saturday and hiking in the wood on Sunday.

Easter 2013
We had some wonderful Easter days in the Hedal mountains in Valdres, and the dogs Emma and Warja practiced as sledge dogs! Our equipment wasn't perfect, so we will have to improve the gear. Our dogs love the long ski trips in the mountains - this is their perfect element!

Walking on a Sunday Winter Morning
On frozen fields, observing the horses, footprints of moose and deer. The woolves have recently been observed, so with all this wildlife around us, the dogs are usually kept on a leash. But how wonderful it is to run free!
The old barn brings the thoughts to older days. How was life fifty years ago with cows, working horses, hens and pigs? Now it's so quiet...

The first pictures show our new import from Finland, Fihtolas Nonparelli, born 3.9.12, will complete our gang. She is very retty, and we hope that she will grow up strong and healthy . The next pictures show Frøya, best female puppy in Kongsberg Sunday 11.11. We are, of course, very proud of her. She seemed to enjoy being in the ring, which is very promising. Finally you see Kvitsymras Ajak and Lappejentas Gorgeous Bonnie.

May 24th, 2012: A new member in the gang: Hiittanan Paimentyttö, Frøya! I took her from Kuopio, Finland, today, and she has already found her palce in the family. We are looking forward to seeing her grow up!
April 14th, 2012: Social training in Oslo on a sunny Saturday, strolling along Karl Johan, the main street of Oslo, and relaxing in the Royal Castle Park. A nice way to spend a couple of hours!
March 24th, 2012: Performing in the ring at Kongsberg: From our A-litter Kvitsymra's Ajak (Avvo) and Kvitsymra's Alva did well and got good critics from Finnish judge Tanya Ahlmann-Stockmari with Excellent for Avvo and Very good for Alva. As a breeder, I am very pleased that the judge found them well proportioned with strong bone structure, good angles and neck, which tells me thst they have the necessary good anatomy to function well and be strong and happy!
A summary of the entry from March 2nd about a course I took in cynology in February: A weekend - 18hrs - in depth on matters such as genetics, anatomy, movements and breeding brought on new insight and knowledge, and - again - the point of seeing the whole dog with its mental health, physical health and exterior when breeding, was underlined. What to look for when judging a dog's exterior was practiced, and reason was given for why exterior is important: An efficiently shaped body gives the animal functional and strong movements, all according to what the particular breed was meant to work with. Very interesting!
January 2012: Our first litter - Kvitsymras A, is now one year old. The beautiful little ones Kvitsymras Armi "Laika", Kvitsynras Alva, Kvitsymras Ante "Rossi", Kvitsymras Ajak "Avvo" and Kvitsymras Aiko are now healthy and happy youngsters.
November 18th 2011: Long time no see! We haven't quit blogging! We have had our hands full of dog training, both theoretically and practically. We have learned a lot about behavioural problems and how to observe and find ways to work with the problems. I have also joined a course in agility, and Emma loves it! Warja is more reluctant, - that 's her personality.
September 24th: Look out! Here we come! 3 siblings from our A-litter presented themselves in a puppy show, with one of their brothers as an eager supporter. The puppies have grown into nice and race typical youngsters!
September 2011: Summer is over, and we have had other things on our minds than chatting about minor details. July 22 made a big contrast in life, but it is true that life mainly consists of minor details. Here are som glimpses of our summer.
June 2011: 5 a day is what we try to manage every day: Problemsolving, nosework, balance, contact/cooperation, physical exercises.
May 23rd 2011: Even though Easter already is a memory, we want to share some glimpses of our holidays in Hedalen. We went hiking in the fascinating, mysterious valley of Vassfaret, left by the inhabitants a hundred years ago. Life was tough and demanding, and several of the young people born there, left for North America in search of a better life. There are many stories of the strongheaded and independent people on vassfarplassen. Vassfaret has an interesting wildlife, and ttracks of the brown bear was observed in April.
April 10th 2011: The spring is here, and we enjoy a place in the sun! The language of dogs is an interesting topic, and the Finnish Lapphound is a very expressive and communicative dog, easy to read. Use google to translate if you want to read more about our life with the dogs.
